Job Description

The primary objective of this position:

  • Ensure quality and risk systems are implemented and maintained top promote best practice
  • Manage quality assurance, quality control and core health and safety systems, processes and activities
  • Ensure that complaints are managed appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Manage, monitor and analyse complaints and risks

Core objectives:

  • Responsibility for checking and reporting on the quality and compliance of internal performance according to contract requirements including the Trust standards e.g. client plans, audit tools, schedules and audit training
  • Responsibility for supporting Health & Safety for the Trust, this includes being the site Health & Safety Representative/Leader, setting up inspection schedules, training and reporting

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Skills:
• In-depth understanding of NZ health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and Ngā Paerewa standards
• Skilled in identifying, managing, and reviewing risks, incidents, and complaints
• Competence in collecting, analysing, and interpreting quality and safety data
• Skilled in preparing clear, accurate reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to monitor performance indicators and identify areas for improvement
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to engage and influence staff at all levels to support a culture of safety and quality
• Confident in facilitating meetings, workshops, and training sessions
• Capable of developing and implementing corrective and preventative actions
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in documentation and reporting
• Able to work independently
• Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse communities

Desirable Skills:
• Understanding of NZ regulatory frameworks especially in health, such as:

  • Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) Code of Rights
  • Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability Services Standards

• Internal auditing skills and working with external auditors
• Proactively identifying and mitigating operational risks
• Able to interpret incident trends, feedback, audit data, and quality

Experience / Knowledge:

• 1-3 years of experience in a role related to workplace safety, quality assurance, risk or compliance, or operational support in safety
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals and groups
• Comfortable with basic Microsoft Office tools
